Leah McFall, a contestant from The Voice UK, has teamed up with will.i.am. for her debut single. It’s a reworking of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zero’s ubiquitously adored track Home, which is itself a turn off. It often reads as lazy or cotidian to release a reworking so early on in an artist’s career, unless of course it’s actually done well. In this case, it’s an entirely new pop track, and it could blow the radio up. The intro strum to the new beat drop is surprising and exhilarating, after which Leah McFall quickly proves why she was ever on the voice with killer chops belting and falsetto-ing their way into cerebral replays. It really is its own pop song, and for all those people who haven’t heard the original Home, this will just be the most stunning pop song ever.
